Hall of Fame Song Lyrics, Part 1

And I need you more than want you
And I want you for all time

That's the fine work of Jimmy Webb on the 1968 hit, "Wichita Lineman."

You don't have to like 1960's Country music to appreciate the simple beauty of those particular words, or for that matter the entire ballad of a lonely man on the road, unloved and far away from home.

Listen to the phrase again. Imagine the passion and longing behind that statement, said over three fingers of bourbon as the haze of no-filter Camels grows thin. Now imagine her reaction upon hearing you offer that heartfelt plea as time winds down with the Lounge fixin' to close.

Your bartender works for tips and tips alone. And I think you just might owe me and Jimmy Webb one for remembering this nice passage.
