Quick Picks for Monday

My humble Lounge for any answers on the Los Angeles Kings' growing problems in securing a victory. Tonight, the Kings are in Minnesota and that game is on the Big Screen courtesy Center Ice. The Kings are drifting toward the cut line for the playoffs.

It's been a long time since the Kings made the playoffs. And for a fan base that gets shoved in the dark so that the news media can cover the Dodgers, Angels and Lakers playoffs, another failure by the Kings would not go down smoothly.

That's why we're watching in the Lounge tonight.

Buffalo may just show up for it's game in Boston at 7 tonight -- at least the Sabres are not playing the Ottawa Senators -- so that game gets the Big Screen treatment, via Versus in HD, until the Kings/Wild game begins at 9 Eastern.

Carolina/Atlanta and Nashville/Florida look like they are trapped in the radio-only mode, so both will get some time on Internet radio and all games will be monitored on the rapid-response scoreboard of CBSSports.com.

Dallas/Anaheim, a 10 Eastern start, will be on the laptop screen.

A lot of teams slumping right now, or at least not looking so mighty despite holding a lofty spot in the standings. Chicago is on the watch list. San Jose, which held on against Colorado on Sunday, is already on the watch list, as Jeff Hale mentioned last week.

And the Calgary Flames. One of these days a Sutter (you supply the brother) will throw the owner under the bus rather than take some of the blame (half, all) for a team's shortcomings.

You watch. It could happen. Now that would be a movie worth watching.

Roll the credits.
