Wednesday in the Juniors/NCAA

A highlight clip for Nathan MacKinnon of the Halfiax Mooseheads and a memorable first, also from the QMJHL, where the Sherbrooke Phoenix win their first game. As an expansion franchise, the Phoenix were a long way from matching the dubious achievements of the Plattsburgh Pioneers, who dropped the class before finishing their freshman season in the QMJHL.

John Torchetti, who has been an assistant or interim coach in the NHL, was on that sad franchise, which the QMJHL, its unofficial historian (use a browser with a transaltor) and a sincere but overtrusting scribe would like us all to forget about.

The league can vacate all the results of games they want. The games were played and I am certain that whoever paid to watch games involving the Pioneers did not get a refund. When the league vacates the revenue from these games, then I might rethink the Pioneers' role in QMJHL history.

Until then, I say to the QMJHL regarding the Pioneers, je me souviens.
